Select Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools > Setup > Equipment > System > Tabs.
Note All users must be out of Equipment Management before you open the Tab Setup window. Users trying to use the system while the Tab Setup window is open will receive a warning message.
- Select an item in the Label column and enter a new label.
- Mark the checkbox in the Visible column for the tab to appear in the Equipment Manager window. The Details tab must be marked as visible.
- Select the Add Space and Delete Space buttons to add or delete a blank tab. Because ten tabs display at a time, blank tabs can be used to fill a page, which enables you to group tabs by page. The numbers in the Page and Position columns indicate where the tab will display.
- To change the position of a tab, choose select a line and choose select one of the Top, Up, Down, or Bottom buttons. Choosing Top or Bottom moves the tab to the top or bottom of the entire list. Choosing Up or Down moves the tab one space. The Details tab is always in the first position on page 1.
- Select OK.
- Select Update Tabs only after you have installed an upgrade. Updating tabs will add new tabs to the Tab Maintenance window while retaining current tab settings. The Visible checkbox is unmarked for new tabs.
Select Initialize Tabs to return all tabs and tab order to the default settings.
Note If you add tabs as part of the initialize or update processes, you must update tab classes and tab security for the tabs to be visible.

Security Mode
The Default security mode applies to all users. The User Class security mode applies to the user class. Classes are set up by choosing Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools > Setup > System > User Classes. For ease of maintenance, we recommend setting up tab security by user class instead of individual user. You could define user classes per job roles. The User security mode applies to the individual user. Users are set up by choosing Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools > Setup > System > User.Note Changes to the default security setting changes rights only for users for whom tab security has not been set up. Once security has been defined for users and user classes, changing the default security setting does not affect the rights of those users.
- User ID, Name, User Class ID, Description
These fields appear if you chose User Class or User as the security mode. Select Add to choose select a user class or user ID from the Microsoft Dynamics GP lookup window. - Edit Header Information
Mark this checkbox to allow users to modify Equipment Manager header fields and save equipment records. - Display Invisible Tabs
Mark this checkbox if you want tabs to which no access is given (neither the Edit nor the View checkbox is marked) to be displayed but disabled. - Edit, View
Mark either checkbox for each tab on the list. Edit allows the user to modify information on the tab. View allows the user to view but not modify information. - Initial
Mark this checkbox for one tab only. This tab displays in position 1 on page 1 in the Equipment Manager window.
Close the window to save your work.
Note For a tab to be accessible, the Visible checkbox must be marked in the Tab Setup window, the Visible checkbox must be marked in the Tab Class Setup window, and the Edit checkbox must be marked in the Tab Security Setup window.
