Once the network scans return devices on the BAS network, use the following steps to configure profiles and to choose the objects to trend. The Mini Agent can trend any number of objects at up to 1 minute intervals from any number of devices on the BAS network. The speed of the BAS network is the limiting factor to how many points can be trended and at what time interval.

  1. In Connect, choose the Configuration Explorer icon.
  2. Choose the Agent and then choose Scan

    Expand

  3. Choose Scan Network.
  4. Enter or choose the Scan Device Range, choose any applicable options, and then choose OK

    Expand

  5. Check the boxes next to the devices that have objects that will be trended and choose Save and Close

Creating a profile

Now that the devices have been saved, you will need to create your profiles. A profile is a saved set of objects belonging to one or more devices that are the same amongst all devices of the same device type.

  1. Choose a device to assign to a profile.
  2. Right-click the device and choose Properties.
  3. In the Device Editor, choose Edit to the right of the Profile drop-down box.

    Expand

  4. In the Profile Editor, name the Profile

    Note

It is beneficial to organize the naming conventions as follows: AgentName_DeviceType when having multiple Agents configured in the database.

  6. Choose the Configuration Explorer  icon.
  7. Choose the Device and then choose Scan.
  8. Choose Scan Network.
  9. Choose all objects that are actual real values then choose Save and Close.Even if it is not desired to trend the object, saving the object will allow Dynamic Explorer to see live data without having to trend the object. Next, choose all objects within the device that will be trended then choose Properties

    Note

If the object contains data types that are not numerical you can create a point conversion to convert the data type to numeric.

Assigning profiles

Now that you have created your profile(s), they will need to be assigned to all devices that have identical point conventions.

For example, a VAV with 12 objects will be given a profile that will save inputs and outputs and match them to their object name or description. Any VAV in the database that contains exactly these 12 same points will share the profile. If another VAV in the database has even one object that differs from the original device that was used to create the profile, then the VAV will have its own unique profile. Use the following steps to assign profiles to all devices on the network to allow their objects to be trended:

  1. Now that the Profile has been created, choose the Configuration Explorer  icon.
  2. Choose the Agent and then choose all the devices that have the exact same object configuration.
  3. Once all the similar device types have been selected, choose Properties.
  4. Choose the Profile drop-down and choose the profile that was created in the previous steps. This will allow each device belonging to the profile to have the same configuration within Connect, and all reporting will be replicated among all devices belonging to this profile.

  5. Choose OK.
  6. Choose the Home icon and choose Restart Agent. After these steps are complete, continue this process for each device type until all devices have a profile assigned.

  2. Choose the Agent and then choose Restart.
  3. Wait a few minutes for the agent to start and begin to poll for points.
