Creating a profile

Now that the devices have been saved, you will need to create your profiles. A profile is a saved set of objects belonging to one or more devices that are the same amongst all devices of the same device type.

  1. Choose a device to assign to a profile.
  2. Right-click the device and choose Properties.
  3. In the Device Editor, choose Edit to the right of the Profile drop-down box

Note: It is beneficial to organize the naming conventions as follows: AgentName_DeviceType when having multiple Agents configured in the database.

  1. Choose OK then OK again.
  2. Choose the Configuration Explorer  icon.
  3. Choose the Device and then choose Scan.
  4. Choose Scan Network.
  5. Choose all objects that are actual real values then choose Save and Close.Even if it is not desired to trend the object, saving the object will allow Dynamic Explorer to see live data without having to trend the object. Next, choose all objects within the device that will be trended then choose Properties

Note: If the object contains data types that are not numerical you can create a point conversion to convert the data type to numeric.

  1. While the configuration window is open, and the device is selected in the left pane, choose all the objects in the right pane that you wish to set a trend interval.
  2. Right-click on one of the objects and choose Properties.
  3. Choose the Trend Interval, which is the time interval (minutes) that the object will be trended and then choose OK
