Using Resco's Admin Console, you can set up a password for your technician(s) and, if you choose to, require the technician to change the password in MobileTech. For steps on how to set the password in Admin Console, see Resco's Wiki Documentation: https://docs.resco.net/wiki/Admin_Console#Set_password.

  1. Start the admin console.
  2. Select Resources > Users from the menu.
  3. Select one or more users, then select Set Password from the menu bar.
  4. Select what password-related management tasks do you want to perform:
    • Random: Check to generate a new random password for the selected users.
    • New password and Confirm password: Enter a new password for the users.
    • Must change password: Selected users must change password next time they connect to the backend server.
    • Send to users by email: Send the new random or configured password in an email to your users.

This option is not currently working as expected. Additionally, if you mark this option, the password is not displayed in the confirmation window. If you marked Random, you will not know what the random password is so you won't be able to tell users what their temporary password is.

  5. Select Confirm.
  6. Select OK in the confirmation window.

    IMPORTANT

After you confirm the password, a message displays in the Admin Console window that includes the password that you've just entered. You will need to make a note of this password to send an email to the affected technicians.

Additional Information

Once you've updated the password, the change takes place immediately for the selected technician(s). When the technician syncs their device, they will receive a message that says they can't connect and that the server login has failed.

  1. Click OK.
  2. Click the sync icon again to open the Sync window.
  3. Highlight the displayed password (shows as dots, not the actual password) and enter the temporary password set by Admin.
  4. Select the sync icon.
  5. In the Change password window, enter the password sent by Admin in the Old Password field.
  6. Enter the new unique password twice.
  7. Select Submit.
  8. Select OK.
  9. Sync your device and enter the new password.
