A sensor is an entity that represents a value that changes over time and always has a parent entity such as equipment or system. A sensor points back to a single device object.

Create a Sensor

Sensors can be created for equipment or systems.

Creating a Sensor for Equipment

Select the App Drawer icon.
Select Architect.
From the Architect home screen, select to expand a Client that holds the site you'd like to use to select equipment for adding a sensor.
Select the Equipment you'd like to add a sensor.
Under Equipment Actions, select Add Sensor to Equipment.
Fill in the following fields:
- Sensor Name
- Select an Agent
- Select a Device
- Select a Device Object^1,2
- Select a Sensor Type
Select Create.

Creating a Sensor for a System

Select the App Drawer icon.
Select Architect.
From the Architect home screen, select to expand a client that holds the site you'd like to use to select a system for adding a sensor.
Select the system you'd like to add a sensor to.
Under System Actions select Add Sensor to System.
Fill in the following fields:
- Sensor Name
- Select an Agent
- Select a Device
- Select a Device Object^1,2
- Select a Sensor Type
Select Create.

Only one object can be linked to a sensor at a time.
Data type is controlled by the data type of the device object set up in IoT Hub.

Edit a Sensor

Select the App Drawer icon.
Select Architect.
On the Architect home screen, expand Sites to display a list of equipment.
Select the Equipment in which your sensor is located.
Locate the Sensors table.
Select the ellipsis icon.
Select Edit Sensor from the drop-down menu.
Edit the intended fields.
Select Save.

Preview Sensor Data

Select the App Drawer icon.
Select Architect.
On the Architect home screen, expand Sites to display a list of equipment.
Select the Equipment in which your sensor is located.
Locate the Sensors table.
Select the ellipsis icon.
Select Preview Data.
The previous 4 hours of raw and display value data are displayed in 15-minute increments.
You can edit the Start Time and End Time to view additional information.
If no information is available, "No Data" displays.

Delete a Sensor

Deleting a sensor will unlink it from the object, but the object will still retain any time-series data.

To delete a sensor:

Select the App Drawer icon.
Select Architect.
On the Architect home screen, expand sites to display a list of equipment.
Select the equipment from which you'd like to delete a sensor.
Locate the Sensors table.
Select the ellipsis icon.
Select Delete Sensor.
To confirm the deletion, type DELETE in the text field provided.
Select Confirm.
