To allow a Connect MiniAgent to retrieve data from the Siemens Insight Server, the Siemens Insight Gateway parses the objects within a Siemens Insight Server and creates BACnet virtual devices for all devices stored within the Siemens Insight server. This allows the Siemens devices communicating to the Siemens Insight server to appear in Connect as multiple BACnet virtual devices.

  1. Navigate to the Connect Gateway Manager located at C:\Program Files (x86)\KEY2ACT\Connect2018 and double-click to launch.

  2. Choose New Gateway

  3. Choose OK.
  4. In the Database Type window, choose Siemens Insight and choose OK

  5. Name the new database and choose Save

  6. Choose BACnet Settings

  7. Choose a unique BACnet device ID for this site (default is 70). 

    Device IDs must be unique.

  1. Choose BACnet IP Settings.
  2. Enter the address of the Insight Server.
  3. Choose OK.
  4. Choose Scan Network. Then Scan Network again.
  5. Choose device range and where to scan for the object name (usually scanning by name returns desired result) and choose OK

  6. After the scan completes, choose the devices with objects that will be trended. choose Save and Close.
  7. Close the Gateway Manager and open Connect.
  8. Go to Configuration Explorer and choose the Agent that was previously created.
  9. Choose Properties.
  10. Choose Edit to the right of the Connection field.
  11. Choose Advanced and choose Import Gateway.
  12. Choose the gateway that was created.
  13. Choose OK then choose OK again.
  14. Choose the Home  icon, choose the Agent, and then choose Restart

  15. Choose the Configuration Explorer  icon and choose your Agent.
  16. Choose Scan Network, choose Scan Network, and then choose OK

  17. The result should have BACnet virtual devices created from the Gateway Manager.
  18. Choose Save and Close.
